Schuyler and Tom’s winter wedding at VanLandingham Estate in Plaza Midwood was a day that felt classic from beginning to end. They wanted something timeless, relaxed, and full of genuine moments, and that venue delivered the perfect backdrop for it. VanLandingham has long been one of our favorite Charlotte wedding locations. It has historic charm of course. It also has incredible getting ready spaces that allow both sides of the wedding party to settle in, connect, and start the day without feeling rushed. Anytime we work with Best Impressions at any of their event spaces, or their catering, it is a flawless wedding day. You can’t go wrong with them!
The First Look
Their first look took place inside the intimate old greenhouse tucked behind the estate. The light that afternoon could not have been better. Soft, golden, and warm against the winter air. It created a quiet pocket of calm before the celebration really began. It is moments like that which remind us why we love documenting weddings in a candid and journalistic way. Nothing staged. Just connection, anticipation, and emotion unfolding naturally.
The Ceremony
The ceremony happened on the front steps of the estate, framed by beautiful architecture and perfect afternoon light. As the sun dipped lower, we were able to steal away for portraits. We caught one of those rare Charlotte winter sunsets filtering through the trees. The kind of light photographers dream about and couples get to remember forever.
The Reception
As guests transitioned into the reception, Schuyler and Tom kicked off the celebration with cold sparklers lighting their entrance and setting the tone for an energetic night of dancing and laughter. To close it all out, they exited through a flurry of bubbles that felt more like a winter blizzard under the night sky. It was playful, cinematic, and the perfect ending to a day filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful moments.
