One of, if not the oldest, temple style churches built in the United States in 1757, the Old Sheldon Church Ruins is a romantic, spot for a wedding or elopement! The church ruins are located near Beaufort, SC in Yemassee and it’s simply breathtaking. The brick ruins and huge archways are beautiful. The remains are what is left after the structure was set on fire during the Revolutionary War. Then they rebuilt it from the remaining walls in 1825.
This gorgeous spot with the enchanting live oak trees was perfect for a styled session! We woke up before sunrise and headed out to the property. We had the place to ourselves as we set up the bride and groom table. We really wanted to table setting to pop off the backdrop of the red brick and the deep blue glass did just that.
Oliver wore a floral, blue tie from Beautiful Idiot Clothing that tied in with the blue glass and Carolyn wore a flower crown that tied in with the colors and florals on the table. We love the simplicity of this elopement style session. But the real star and inspiration of the shoot was the incredible ruins!
As the sun was coming up and the fog was lifting from the ground around them we began shooting. Then the orange glow was coming through Carolyn’s cathedral style veil and we couldn’t have planned a more romantic, picturesque moment! We loved this session and hope you did too!
