Dampened wooden chairs, lightly moistened St. Augustine grass, gently glowing white candles, and the last remnants of a warm autumn rain trickling down from the moss-covered oak trees above all worked in unison to provide captivating sights and entrancing aromas for Sam and Maggie’s breathtaking wedding at the MCleod Plantation in Charleston, SC. Sam and Maggie are among the most cheerful and affable people we have met. Their wedding was everything you would expect from an intimate ceremony set in the sprawling front lawn of this beautiful wedding venue. We love how the venue it is cloaked in all the Live Oak Trees. Also, the beautiful simplicity of the grounds.
We’ve known Sam for most of our lives and we have never seen a smile like the one that stretched across his face when he first laid eyes Maggie. She looked stunning in her bohemian inspired wedding dress. Her waist-length white veil and flowery crown further accentuated the fairytale appearance.
Adding even more sophistication to the celebration, the wedding party had a short walk down a candle-lit gravel path to the charming reception- only feet from the waters of the Wappoo Creek. It was nearly dusk as guests settled into their seats and close friends and family regaled them with heartfelt speeches. Even Cooper, Maggie and Sam’s dog, made an appearance via Facetime.
Despite the lightly scattered showers earlier in the afternoon, the last of the rain fell mere minutes before the ceremony began- allowing Sam and Maggie to be forever intertwined. Much like the Spanish Moss gently clinging to the ancient Oaks that swathed the plantation grounds. It was a lovely day and a perfect celebration!
The grounds of the McLeod Plantation in Charleston, SC is definitely a gorgeous location for a wedding! We loved capturing Sam and Maggie’s day here and we hope you’ve enjoyed it too!
