This hidden gem, Great Falls Park, is in McLean, VA and we had never ventured here before, but after some google searches it seemed like a great place for Kendra and Bernard’s engagement session. Our first attempt to take their photos ended with a huge thunderstorm that blew in 30 minutes before. Tons of thunder, lightning, and rain. It also made it insanely humid. It was impossible not to sweat even just standing. haha! Luckily we were coming back through the area on our way home from a wedding on Long Island. So we took a chance and the second time around was perfect!
How incredible is the scenery? The falls are gigantic and so incredible. The raging rapids and huge carved out rock made for an epic backdrop. Some of the spots are a bit of a hike but Kendra and Bernard were up for an adventure. We took our time exploring the area and wound up playing in some water up the river. Poor Kendra even had her shoe stuck in mud and we thought it was gone forever, haha, but after multiple attempts we found it! It was such a fun day!!
We cannot wait for their wedding in the Outer Banks next year at Grand Ritz Palm!
Ending our engagement sessions with something fun and maybe a little out of our couple’s comfort zone is an awesome way to leave the session. We all were waist deep in the water at the and we were dying of laughter the whole time. Our only goal was to not fall face first into the muddy water and ruin our cameras! haha
As we head back home in the van we both couldn’t help but laugh at how crazy the last few days were. Sessions have a way of making all the stress and worry we have going on in our everyday life to disappear. This Great Falls engagement with Kendra and Bernard is a perfect case of that happening. We are so thankful for Kendra and Bernard for being such troopers to get the great shots!
