A Dream Proposal in Italy at Cadini di Misurina : Cara & Tristan’s Sunrise in the Dolomites

When we first met Cara and Tristan at a Flume concert in NYC, it felt like a lucky encounter. They were trying to snap a selfie, so we offered to take some photos for them. To our surprise, we soon realized we had just photographed one of their friends in Amalfi not long before! What a small world! Fast forward a year later, and as we were heading back to Amalfi for another destination wedding. Tristan saw our travel schedule on instagram and reached out with an incredible request. He wanted to propose to Cara while we were in the Dolomites, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to capture such a special moment for them. They have a travel Instagram ( follow them here-TC.travels) so that was our plan! To pretend we were taking photos and video for their insta.

We decided to make it a sunrise session once we arrived. This was everyone’s first trip to the Dolomites. Which we were all eagerly anticipating the spectacular views. We met them at the parking lot in the dark, and as the sun began to rise, the surrounding mountains slowly revealed themselves, leaving us all in awe. It was absolutely one of the most incredible locations we’ve ever had the privilege of photographing, and certainly the most beautiful place for a proposal.

As we hiked toward Cadini di Misurina, we captured them taking in the scenery, sharing laughs, and enjoying the breathtaking landscape. Once we reached the summit, the sun began to creep over the peaks, casting a warm golden glow. Tristan knew it was time. As we flew the drone above, circling around them, he dropped to one knee. Cara’s reaction was priceless—she jumped into his arms, which we were pretty sure was a resounding “yes!”

But the moments didn’t stop there. Afterward, Tristan had letters from friends and family who couldn’t be there, and he even brought a dress for Cara to change into for some stunning engagement photos. One of the most inspirational moments came later, when Cara, who has Alopecia, decided to take off her wig for some photos. She shared the sweetest embrace with Tristan, who had inspired her to feel comfortable in her own skin. We’re so grateful to have captured these intimate moments of their love story!
