We met Katie and Frank along the Blue Ridge parkway with stunning views of the mountain range for this epic rain engagement! We hiked to the top of Black Balsam Knob surrounded in a thick layer of clouds although in Asheville, NC that day it was perfectly sunny. Haha! We didn’t see any thunderstorms forming on the radar so we took our chances. However, that doesn’t typically mean much in the mountains in the summer. Pop up storms happen in a matter of seconds. So we were prepared to get soaked. But didn’t expect what happened! In 14 years of photographing engagements and weddings this was first. As the storm rolled in we took cover under some trees but quickly decided to head back down to the parking area. When we got there the sun popped through the ominous clouds. The rain poured down as the sun beamed through. Definitely one of the most breathtaking moments in an engagement session we’ve ever seen! So we took advantage of the spectacular scene and embraced the rain. Katie and Frank are such troopers. Dancing, kissing, and laughing the entire time!
Ahhh we are in love with this mountain rain engagement so much! It was like a scene from a romantic movie that we don’t want to stop watching. It also makes us want to head up to the mountains every time a storm rolls in just to try to catch a scene like this again. Don’t you?–We also cannot wait to share Katie and Frank’s wedding day at Chestnut Ridge in Asheville from a few weeks ago. So stay tuned!!
